If I had screamed, jumped, or swatted it away, a room full of three – four year olds would have instantly internalized a lifelong lesson that ‘ Spiders are dangerous enemies.’ Instead, I leaned in closer, lowered my voice to a theatrical whisper, and said, "Wow, look at that incredible engineer.
